I haven't been out since the 31st, frigid nights the last few days probably have things very icy. It's supposed to warm up again next week, should make for more good winter fishing. Heres a few pictures from last week.

The mild temperatures are holding in here and the fishing is still very good. A few more people out this week but still more than enough room for those willing to walk and bounce around a little.

Like I said, it's still good. I took just a few pictures today of the many caught.

Fishing is still good when weather conditions allow. If you have a day, check the Erie weather, if it's not a blizzard, give me a call and we'll go catch some winter steel.

I haven't been out as much lately. Fished on Friday and the catching was as good as it gets. It was hard not to catch fish. Sorry no pics, you know what they look like by now and it was quite cold. Crazy weather pattern coming ahead will make it tough to predict the good days. The fishing should be good just about everyday, travel conditions may be tough though. It should help keep the crowds down though, time to get new tires on the fishmobile for sure now.

The creeks are blown out this morning, Turkey day, 2007. Here's a few pics of upper elk creek at 10:45 a.m. It's still rising and the rain has changed to snow.

Absolutely fantastic fishing for most of the days since the last report. We had a few slower days filled with leaves, snow and rapidly dropping water temps there a week or so ago. But the fish quickly adjusted to the colder water, then the water warmed up a little and fresh chrome steelhead filled the creeks along with the thousands of fish that were already there. We are back to winter weather for a few days but it looks like it will warm back up a little next week. The second half of next week could be spectacular.

A quick update, I've been too busy catching fish to play around on the computer. Tons of fish in the creeks, but the water gets lower every day. We managed to have great days despite the low water, I even fished the weekend with some friends and we all caught a bunch of fish working around the crowds. A couple inches of rain would be fantastic right about now.
Here's some pictures from the last week. Had I taken pictures off all the fish caught, you'd have to take a vacation day to sit here and view them all. So here's a few. Starting with yours truly with a 11.5 lber and another just a tad shy of 10lbs.

The rain on Tuesday helped allot and pushed fish upstream a fairly long way. A rather large number of them too. The water is dropping fast, it would be nice to get more rain soon and keep the flow moving a little. Either way, there's a bunch of fish around and whether it's low and clear, or high and muddy, I'll be catching them. Will you? 724-622-8426
Here's a couple pictures from the other day, Pete when you get a chance send me the rest and I'll put them up.

I haven't updated lately because I've mostly been fishing every day as usual, but not much has changed. Low,low water, more and more people each day. We have a couple great days here and there, as a new pod of fresh fish move in. They get beat up after a few days and fishing stays ok but not great like it can be on the days the fresh fish move in.
So, low water, lots of fish, lots of people. Some days are great, some days aren't. It's a coin flip, that pretty much sums it up.

A few fish pics from last week.

Fishing has gotten really, really tough over the last few days. They are still there, but stressed from low, hot water and many anglers pressuring them. I still managed to catch a a few fish this morning, but it wasn't much fun. I love to fish clear water and watch steelhead slam a fly or jig, but this is extremely low water with hot temps. Cold weather and rain can not get here fast enough. The next couple days will be spent replenishing my low water fly and jig supply and hoping the cold comes soon.

Still lots of fish, but very low water. Low water wasn't so bad when there was a few less people around. The crowds have really put a beating on the fish. If you are consistantly foul-hooking fish, you need to change something. Perhaps ask an angler near by for help. WE NEED RAIN!

09/24/2007
Many,Many fish down low. It will stay that way until we get some rain. The streams are low and clear. The numbers of fish down near the mouth and lakeshore will just continue to build. Rob had a good day catching fish on many different techniques.

As expected the cooler lake temps brought home a bunch of chrome. Excellent fishing despite the low water on the lower ends of the streams. We could certainly do without these hot afternoons though. There hasn't been huge crowds yet but angler pressure is increasing and with the fish mostly in the lower streams you can expect to be fishing near others. Only a couple pictures again, lots of average sized fish around. Have spotted a couple nice ones cruising around. Tied into a larger fish today but it jumped and flipped over landing on my line then it was history.

I was out yesterday, scattered fish here and there. The lake has cooled down to 69 degrees and should drop a few more over the next few days. This is great news. I'll be out of town a few days, when I get back on Wednesday I'll be out and fully expect to find a bunch of fish. They'll be upstream with rain, without rain the lower streams and shoreline should be fishing terrific.
09/11/2007
The rains brought the creeks up and spread the few fish that were around out, but didn't really bring many from the lake. There are very few fish scattered over a long way. Onshore lake temps are still warm, should get better over the next few days.

There seems to be a couple more fish showing up every time I make it out.I found a couple dozen fish hanging out in several locations. It was hot out there today though once the sun peaked over the trees, cooler weather coming and it's not a minute too soon. The fish really shut off by late morning. It's better not to catch them when the water is that warm anyway. I'd expect things in the lower end of the creeks and the lake shore to get going in a hurry not long after this heat leaves.

I've been out for a few hours here and there over the last week. Each day I've managed to hook into a few fish. This morning being the best so far, landing 5 nice fish between 6 and 9lbs and also a few smaller fish in the 15 to 18" range. Still nothing to get too excited about, well, I guess it's enough to get excited about, but not enough to come from a long way away. It's only going to get better soon and right now it will only take a handfull of guys to make "crowding" a problem because there just aren't many in there yet. But condsidering the time of year and the conditions, it looks promising (and pretty much guaranteed) that we'll have the usual unbelievable fall of fishing ahead.

Well, that makes 1. Fished Walnut creek for an hour yesterday morning while waiting on my boat ride. Landed the first one of the season, not huge but a decent 22" or so. Picture below, the best I could do with a camera phone and flashlight at dawn. Fished a while again this morning. Landed 3 small steelhead about 15" and missed a larger fish about 24" that slammed a spinner but somehow didn't get hooked. Spotted a couple upstream a ways in a deep pool, had some interesting follows but couldn't talk any into biting before the storms rolled in and I had to run for cover. Lots of rain this morning and the streams were up fairly high and muddy by afternoon. Might bring a couple more fish in, but still not expecting much. Hot weather forecasted the next couple days, we need cold nights more than we need rain at this time. It will probably be a few more weeks yet before it's worth traveling any distance.
