The new big fish of the year for myself 11lb 8 oz.

The tribs increased in flow on Thursday allowing a very nice run of fish to move in. Since then the tribs have steadily receeded in flow and as of today, they are low and clear, but not quite as terribly low as they were prior to the recent rainfall.  Hopefully, we'll get another rain event soon to keep at least a little flow to the streams. Until then, it should still be decent fishing in the deeper pools.

Here is just a few pictures of the MANY fish caught by myself, some friends, and clients over the last week. Starting with pictures of 10 year old Austin and his dad who fished under very tough conditions with low water and tons of leaves, but still managed to have a good day of fishing!

Above, my dad, age 86. He's still got it, just not nonstop all day long like he did a few years back

Not much new to report. The streams are low and we need rain. There are a bunch of fish in the creeks and in the lake close to shore.  Finesse fishing the slow deep pools is still producing a decent number of fish.

Rob just can't get enough of our incredible fishery here in Erie,PA!!  He was back again for more .  A little tougher fishing today than his usual trips, but we still managed to catch a good number of fish, we just had to work a little more.

The creeks dropped rather quickly over night and the fishing was fantastic today. Lots of people out enjoying this great fishery, but with a little walking it wasn't hard to find a group of fish with a little elbow room. The fishing should stay good for a while now, but it would be nice to get some more rain sometime in the next week to give us another increase in flows.  Plenty of fish ran the streams and certainly more to come. A friend of mine trolled the shallow water in the lake today and did well, he even picked up a bonus King Salmon.

The size of the fish is holding up well too. I weighed two today that were just a tad under 10 pounds and left a couple go without weighing them that I'm sure were certainly 9+lbs.

Below is a fish that went 9lb 15 ounces on my digital scale, it wasn't the longest fish, but it had some serious shoulders!!

Another 9+lber, this one went 9lb 5 ounces on the digital scale!!

My brother Mark with a Dink, haha. He caught some nice fish too, I was just too busy catching my own to take pictures of them. Oh well, we all know what they look like anyhow.

The Tributaries have all received allot of rain over the last few days and they are all high at the moment. This is exactly what we needed and the fishing shoud be outstanding from here on out starting tomorrow.  All next week should be fantastic, I'm available everyday but Monday.  Give me a call if you want to experience some of the best steelhead fishing anywhere in the world!!  724-622-8426

Still no change in conditions, just wanted to update a couple pictures.  Rob came for another early season trip today. He was in the zone for a few hours and crushed the fish. Including 3 real good fish, an 11lb 2 ounce, 9lb 15 ounce, and 9lb 8 ounce fish to go along with many 5 to 8lb fish.  There is some really nice fish around this year. It seems like 1 out of about 20 are turning out to be 9lbs and bigger. That's real 9lbers weighed on a digital scale, not someones estimated weight.

Still the same story, low water, lots of fish on the lower ends of the tribs and lakeshore. Hopefully we'll get some rain soon, or at least a passing cloud!

Here's a nice fish from the other day.

The numbers of fish staged in the lower sections are growing by the day. There are many fish waiting for rain to move upstream.  They seem a little bigger on average this year too. Here is a few pictures of many fish caught the last few days

The fishing has started to pick up somewhat. We did get some rain to increase the flows a little on the tribs. It never made them very high, but the flows increased enough to cause some small groups of fish to make a short run upstream. There still is not allot of fish around, but the numbers are certainly building.

The rain mostly missed Erie the other day, not enough fell to do anything to the streams.  The waves on the lakeshore were a little to big to fish effectively, so it's tough to say if the cooler weather has brought any more fish in shallow.  The lower tribs still have a few, but for the most part the numbers haven't grown much. I managed to land 5 adults and a few jacks today, also lost a few others, but tough fishing right now.  There is rain forcasted Friday through Monday, we'll see what happens.

Not  much has changed since my last report. There may be a few more fish around, and a few trying to move up the bigger streams, but not many and not far. We'll need some serious water before any numbers can move upstream. But with the cooler weather the numbers should start to build in a hurry in the lower streams and the lake shore. Here's a few blurry cell phone photos from today.

A few fish around already, but not many. It looks to be a normal start with a handfull of fish scattered around the mouths of the streams.
